I saw what this policy did to my community. I didn’t realize it wasn’t normal for people to disappear until I left for college.” A rally was held today in protest of the 287(g) program, which allows police officers to act as immigration officers. Collier County is one of 37 law enforcement agencies across the U.S. who participate in this program, and residents are fighting back against the recent detainment of Juan Daniel Gonzalez Lopez.
