We were driving around the mountains on the village side of J’beil, Lebanon today, where we discovered a mountain of goats on the side of the road. We were high enough in the mountains to reach the clouds, which is the fog you’re seeing in this photo.
This is how a goat herder’s son spent his Saturday afternoon. My cousin asked him in Arabic to take a photo, and he said yes and sat there quietly as I took it. His dad, a few feet away from us, was checking on his goats to make sure they were feeding well.
This was actually the last photo I took of the goats, where I finally got one of them to look at me for a split second. The summer season in Lebanon is a big time for farmers to produce labne and cheese, amongst other products.
