CEDARS OF GOD SOUVENIRS
Cedars of God souvenirsWe went through “The Cedars of God” in Lebanon, which is essentially a whole forest of cedars. Once upon a time, the mountains in Lebanon were covered by cedar trees. The cedar tree is the symbol of the country, and is on the flag. The cedar tree represents immortality. Once we got to the top, we saw this man standing by his little souvenir shop. He was selling wood from the cedars, (Lebanon is very strict about cutting down cedars, so they only allow a certain amount of trees to be used for souvenir purposes) with wood that is cut from branches. He wrote on the back for us, and he is showing his completed work. | Cedars of God souvenirsNot only do you make a purchase, but you cannot have an interaction with someone in Lebanon for more than 10 minutes without them offering you some of their famous Arabic coffee. Hospitality is a huge thing there, and they know how to make you feel welcomed. We sat for about an hour as we enjoyed some of his coffee. | Cedars of God souvenirsHe used a special ink pen that he powered up by connecting the wire into his car. He wrote our location and the date in Arabic. |
